Morning Thunder didn’t start in a boardroom.
It started over espresso.
One morning I was sitting across from The Fat Man — a man who has never ordered a “small” anything in his life, when he set his espresso down like a judge delivering a verdict.
“I need a coffee blend for my company,” he said. “Something bold. Something smooth. Something built to wake the dead.”
Now when The Fat Man makes a request…it’s not really a request.
So we got to work.
Batches were roasted.
Cups were drained.
Eyebrows were lost.
We weren’t chasing delicate notes of wild-berry-whisper or whatever coffee blogs are talking about this week. We were chasing power...the kind of coffee that shows up five minutes early and owns the room.
We pushed it darker. Smoothed it out. Made it hit like thunder but finish like silk.
Then one early Saturday morning, he walked into my office and said he only had time for one sip.
He took it.
Paused.
Slow nod.
“That’s the one.”
And just like that, Morning Thunder was born.
Built to wake the dead.
